Etymology

Borrowed from Arabic شَهَادَة‎ (šahāda, “witnessing”).

Noun

shàhādā̀ f (plural shahādōdī, possessed form shàhādàr̃)

  1. (Islam) shahada, the Islamic testimony or declaration of belief in the unity of God, one of the five pillars, to testify that none is worthy of worship except Allah.
