- Syrian missile defense systems have intercepted missiles fired by Israel on targets in the southern part of the country's capital, Damascus. State-run Syrian news agency Sana reported that the missiles were fired by fighter jets from the Israel-occupied Golan Heights.
- Senegalese President Macky Sall said on Thursday (June 9th) that he remained hopeful that a compromise would be reached with Mali's ruling military junta on a timeline for restoring democratic rule. Mali's military leaders recently announced 24 months starting from March 2022 as transition period after which they would hand over power to a civilian administration.
- The Nigerian government has declared June 13th 2022 public holiday to mark this year's Democracy Day in the country. Leadership newspaper reported that Interior Minister Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of the federal gov't, congratulating Nigerians and urging citizens to support the current administration in its efforts to ensure a secure, united and prosperous nation.
- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said it is not possible to talk with Iran using the language of force, as Iranians speak the language of logic. Iranian news agency IRNA reported President Raisi's remarks during a meeting with various groups of the people of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, while reacting to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors' resolution on Iran.
- The head of Lebanon's Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, said Thurs (June 9th) that the group could stop Israel from extracting gas from a maritime field that Lebanon says lies in disputed waters, adding that Hezbollah was not afraid of war.
