  2. The latest Israeli missile attack on the Damascus International Airport in Syria has been strongly condemned by Russian ambassador to Syria Alexander Efimov. Mr. Efimov stressed that such reckless attacks endanger civilian aircraft and civil aviation, and that the Israeli authorities must immediately halt such heinous acts, Al-Watan newspaper reported.
  3. Iran and Nigeria have signed a memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation. The agreement was signed by Nigerian State Foreign Minister Zubairu Dada, and Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, head of Iran's Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, on the side-lines of the 6th Meeting of Iran-Nigeria Joint Commission.
  4. Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, has said Syria's refusal to normalize relations with Israel was the reason behind recent attacks on Damascus by the Israeli regime. The deputy of the Hamas political bureau in the Gaza Strip, Khalil Al-Hayya, made the remarks in a statement condemning the attacks.

  5. Indian security officials have continued to persecute and destroy houses of Muslim faithful in the country following demonstrations against recent derogatory remarks made against the holy prophet of Islam, Muhammad, peace be upon him.

  6. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said Ukraine would have to surrender some of its provinces to Russian forces for peace to be restored in the country. Mr Stoltenberg made the remarks during a joint press conference with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto.

  9. Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi has accepted mass resignation of lawmakers faithful to influential Shia cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr. Mr Al-Halbousi announced accepting the resignations in a tweet on Sunday (12 June), Iran's Press TV reported.
  10. A total of 260 Iranian lawmakers have condemned a recent resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors against Tehran, saying the move proved that the IAEA and Director-General Rafael Grossi had lost all technical credibility.

  2. Syrian missile defense systems have intercepted missiles fired by Israel on targets in the southern part of the country's capital, Damascus. State-run Syrian news agency Sana reported that the missiles were fired by fighter jets from the Israel-occupied Golan Heights.
  3. Senegalese President Macky Sall said on Thursday (June 9th) that he remained hopeful that a compromise would be reached with Mali's ruling military junta on a timeline for restoring democratic rule. Mali's military leaders recently announced 24 months starting from March 2022 as transition period after which they would hand over power to a civilian administration.
  4. The Nigerian government has declared June 13th 2022 public holiday to mark this year's Democracy Day in the country. Leadership newspaper reported that Interior Minister Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of the federal gov't, congratulating Nigerians and urging citizens to support the current administration in its efforts to ensure a secure, united and prosperous nation.
  5. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said it is not possible to talk with Iran using the language of force, as Iranians speak the language of logic. Iranian news agency IRNA reported President Raisi's remarks during a meeting with various groups of the people of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, while reacting to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors' resolution on Iran.
  6. The head of Lebanon's Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, said Thurs (June 9th) that the group could stop Israel from extracting gas from a maritime field that Lebanon says lies in disputed waters, adding that Hezbollah was not afraid of war.

  4. Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country is opposed to the anti-Iran moves at the International Atomic Energy Agency board of governors meeting. President Putin made the remarks on Weds during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.
  5. Belgian King Philippe on Weds expressed regret for his nation's abuses in its former colony, the DRC. King Philippe expressed this on the second day of his visit to DRC.
  6. Reports from Nigeria indicated that top members of the ruling APC party including Sen. Adamu Aliero and Senate Majority Leader Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi, have defected to the country's main opposition party, PDP, shortly after a former governor of the country's south-western state of Lagos, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, was announced winner of the APC presidential primary elections held on Weds.
  7. Iran on Thurs strongly denounced as political and unconstructive, a resolution adopted by the Int'l Atomic Energy Agency at its board of governors meeting. The Iranian foreign ministry said in a statement that Iran had already disconnected IAEA cameras monitoring its nuclear sites in response to the adoption of the resolution.
